The University of Luxembourg and EECERA Multilingual Childhoods Special Interest Groups (SIG) are pleased to announce the call for papers for the international research conference in Luxembourg 12-13 May 2025.
Opportunities and challenges in multilingual ECEC contexts: Perspectives from professionals, policy makers and parents.
Call for papers:
We welcome scholars, PhD students and practitioners investigating childhood multilingualism in educational contexts from around the world. The conference will focus on issues related to the learning and teaching of two or more languages in the home, school or community by children from birth to the age of 6. The focus may include awareness of languages, language development and use in multitingual contexts where children encounter additional languages, foreign languages or second languages.
Additional topics may relate to the role of parents, teacher education and training and policy in early multilingualism.
Types of speakers' contributions
Abstract submissions for papers and posters should be no more than 300 words, be written in English and include title of presentation, aims of study, theoretical underpinning(s), methodology, main findings and discussion, implications for practice/policy and references.
Deadline for abstract submissions: 30 November 2024.
The abstracts should be submitted by using Easychair: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=mc2025
Notification of acceptance will be sent by 15 January 2025.
Conference registration
Conference registration will open in February. Please follow the website Multilingual Childhoods (wordpress.com) for registration details. The conference fee is 200 EURO (workshops are free).
