With Italy’s schools becoming more diverse, this research investigates the language use of multilingual students in Trentino’s primary schools. IPRASE conducted a study that developed a survey to investigate how multilingual children use language in school, aiming to improve inclusivity and address learning challenges. The findings reveal a rich linguistic diversity that is at risk of rapid erosion as Italian increasingly dominates, potentially diminishing the children’s ability to maintain bilingualism and pass their native languages onto future generations.
