Resilient syntax in contact: assessing minority languages
This project delves into the resilience of minority languages by studying key morphosyntactic constructions, providing a novel perspective on assessing their 'internal' vitality. It explores the impact of modern societal changes such as increased mobility, intermarriage, and the dominance of standard languages on the transmission and use of minority languages. The study initially focuses on three minority languages in Northeast Italy—Ladin, Friulian, and German varieties spoken in Friuli—examining key morphosyntactic features like subject syntax, subordination, and nominal agreement.
