Immigrant families with young children are needed to take part in a study on outdoor play in multicultural school environments
Researchers at the University of Edinburgh are looking for immigrant parents with a child in nursery or primary school in Scotland to take part in a study designed to understand how outdoor play helps children transition to a multicultural school environment.
The researchers would like to hear the perspectives of you and your child on your child’s outdoor play.
The study requires one interview with you (35 mins) and one with your child (25 mins). Interviews can be held in-person or online.
All the information collected will be kept confidential.
If you would like to get involved and/or read the participant information sheet please contact lead researcher Jianing Fu.
This study can help you understand how your children communicate and play with peers from different cultural backgrounds and the potential challenges they experience in play due to the different cultures between home and school. You can learn how outdoor play can contribute to bridging this cultural gap and support children's transition to a multicultural school environment.
This study has been approved by the Ethics Committee at the University of Edinburgh and the Edinburgh City Council. If you have any further questions about participating, please contact Jianing Fu.
